Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 15–20 mins
Total Time: 25–30 mins
Servings: 6

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 1 large sourdough loaf (about 1 lb)

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 4–5 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ¼ cup cheddar cheese (for extra cheesy flavor)

  • A pinch of chili flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare Garlic Butter:
In a mixing bowl, combine butter, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until smooth and creamy.

  3. Prepare the Bread:
Cut the sourdough loaf in half horizontally (or into thick slices if preferred). Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  4. Spread the Mixture:
Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over each half of the bread.

  5. Add the Cheese:
Sprinkle mozzarella, Parmesan, and cheddar evenly over the top. Add chili flakes if you like a mild kick.

  6. Bake:
Place in the oven for 12–15 minutes until the cheese melts and the bread turns golden around the edges.

  7. Broil (Optional):
Turn the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes for that bubbly, crisp cheesy top.

  8. Slice and Serve:
Slice into thick pieces and serve warm. Perfect with pasta, soups, or as a snack!

💡 Tips:

  • Use roasted garlic for a mild, sweet garlic flavor.

  • Add a little cream cheese to the butter mixture for extra creaminess.

  • Make it vegan by using dairy-free butter and vegan cheese.

  • Add toppings like fresh basil, green onions, or crushed red pepper after baking.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions:

  • Pair with Creamy Alfredo Pasta or Tomato Basil Soup.

  • Serve as an appetizer with marinara dipping sauce.

  • Slice into small cubes for a party platter.

FAQs:

Q1: Can I use regular bread instead of sourdough?
Yes, you can! But sourdough gives a tangy flavor and crispier crust that makes it unique.

Q2: Can I make this ahead of time?
Absolutely. Prepare the bread with butter and cheese, cover it with foil, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Bake when ready.

Q3: How do I store leftovers?
Wrap leftovers in foil and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes.

Q4: Can I freeze it?
Yes! Freeze baked or unbaked bread for up to 2 months. Bake directly from frozen for about 15–20 minutes.

Q5: What cheese works best?
Mozzarella for stretchiness, Parmesan for sharp flavor, and cheddar for richness — the perfect combo!
